EASTERN MANGROVES

EASTERN MANGROVES

Eastern Mangroves complex is an integrated hotel, suites, marina, retail and residential destination, and an urban sanctuary in the heart of Abu Dhabi, offering guests a luxury escape from the bustle of city life.

This leisure hotspot, which offers stunning views of the Abu Dhabi skyline, occupies a prime position along a 1.2 kilometre stretch of Abu Dhabi’s protected eastern mangrove district, and is only 15 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport. It features two luxurious urban residential components as well as the 222-room five-star Eastern Mangroves Hotel and Spa by Anantara and Eastern Mangroves Suites by Jannah.

Stretching over 4.5 square kilometres, the protected Eastern Mangroves district represents a dynamic ecosystem consisting of mature Grey Mangroves interspersed with halophytes (salt-water plants) on the higher grounds. The Grey Mangrove is the only species of mangrove that occurs in the UAE and the Gulf in general, as it is the only species that thrives in the extreme saline and hot conditions experienced here. The mangroves play a great role in protecting the coastal shorelines from erosion, likewise they provide sheltered areas for native fish to breed; they act as carbon sinks and are destinations for migratory birdlife including flamingos, which can be found in the mangroves between November and April.
